Travel Guide: Winky's Fun 1-Day Las Vegas Itinerary

Hi everyone!

Living in Vegas, many friends and customers always ask us what's great to do when visiting. Apart from all the spritz and glamor of the well-known Las Vegas Strip places, we decided to put together a fun scavenger hunt of some of our favorite spots here in Las Vegas!

Are you ready for this 1-day itinerary? Let's go!

1. Stop #1 is Fat Choy (http://fatchoylv.com/) at 595 E Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89104.

Welcome to Fat Choy where their slogan is appropriately "Yum Yum Try Some"! We love this restaurant because it's such a hidden gem located inside this ghetto local casino but the food is actually surprisingly amazing! Our fav haunt in the city for pork belly buns for sure! Fat Choy is a family business that started off as a food truck and is now super popular amongst the locals...it was featured on the diners, dives and drive ins show, and also the Fusion style winner of Las Vegas for 2015!

2. Our second stop is Luv it frozen custard (http://www.luvitfrozencustard.com/) 520 Fremont St Las Vegas, NV 89101 to get our dessert on!

This historic ice cream shop has been in this same spot since 1973! It's one of the 10 historic landmarks of downtown Las Vegas and is said by some to be the best ice cream in the city. Nothing says old-school Vegas like this joint! Check in on Yelp to get 10% off (http://www.yelp.com/biz/luv-it-frozen-custard-las-vegas). The Western special is their famous sundae, topped with hot fudge, caramel, and pecans… need we say more?

3. Zip on deeper into the Las Vegas Downtown Area, where you see the Fremont Experience (http://vegasexperience.com/), and the fun-filled Container Park (http://downtowncontainerpark.com/). Visit our first Winky Designs store while you're at it!

You'll be able to get all your cheesy tourism fixes here with the Heart Attack Burger, and zip-lining through the Fremont Experience, while seeing what the old Las Vegas strip used to be. Two blocks down Fremont, you'll visit the Container Park, where restaurants, shopping, and services call 43 re-purposed shipping containers their home.

We love being a part of the Container Park, since all the businesses are owner-operated and it's like a home-community of entrepreneurs here!

4. When you're done your shopping, walk a few steps to the Emergency Arts building (http://www.emergencyartslv.com/)! 520 Fremont Street (NW Corner of 6th and Fremont)

For many years this was operating as one of Fremont Medical Building in the city and it was abandoned for many years until it was reopened as a "Creative Collective" where artists of all kinds can collide, share ideas and showcase their work. The old exam rooms, nursing stations and X-ray areas have been converted into tiny artist galleries showcasing the work of local artists! Also, right by the entrance there's a small little room known as the "Burlesque Hall of Fame"! Not only is it the world’s largest archive of vintage burlesque paraphernalia, but it's also FREE to visit :)

5. Want to see more of historical Las Vegas? Come visit the Pin Ball Hall of Fame! (http://www.pinballhall.org/) 1610 E Tropicana Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89119

10,000 sq ft of pinball machines speak for itself! This is the world's largest pinball collection and you can play these 1950's -1990's machines to your hearts content for only 25 cents per play! This pinball arcade is the dream of Tim Arnold and his wife Charlotte - who started this in the early 1990's and runs it to this day. It'll take you back in time and as an extra bonus, they operate this as a not-for-profit museum and donates all of its profits to local charities in Vegas so you can feel good about all the quarters you're dropping too :)

6. For our last stop, the famous wax museum, Madame Tussauds at the Venetian Hotel.

The Grand Canal Shoppes, 3377 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109

Not many people know this but Madam Tussauds is based on a famous wax sculptor (Marie Tussauds) who opened her first museum in London in 1835 to showcase her work.

Madam Tussauds wax museum is now a worldwide tourist attraction but it has not always been without problems! The wax figure of Adolf Hitler has been vandalized many times and in 2008, a German man managed to slip past two guards and decapitate the figure of Hitler (he did it to win a bet!!). The wax museum in Vegas added a figure of Nikki Minaj in recent years and this summer (June 2015), controversial photos emerged on Instagram and as a result, Nikki Minaj is now provided extra security at the museum but all we did was put a slap watch on her! She's wearing a Vegas Iconic Slap Watch very appropriately ;)
